Saturday’s Setup

Geoff Shackelford reports on the twists the USGA is putting in place for Saturday’s round.  I think it is great to see what Mike Davis and the rest of the crew are doing.  I’ve never read so much about course setup at a tournament as we’ve seen this year.  It shows how much fun running a golf tournament can be.

One thing I loved about working the Futures Tour was that we could look at the architectural designs of a hole and see how to play with it.  On the men’s tours they usually just push the tees all the way back.  Hopefully this will lead to a little more experimentation on the PGA Tour, which would make it more interesting and might even improve ratings.
