All USGA Rules links broken

The USGA just changed their website so all links to the USGA Rules on this blog are broken.

I’m not sure when or if I’ll have the time to recreate them all.

If you want to see the rule in question, go to the USGA website at http://www.usga.org/Rule-Books/Rules-of-Golf/Rules-and-Decisions/ and look them up.

    John,
You haven’t weighed in yet on the Richie Ramsay interview. My question is, what is the correct procedure for determining whether or not the area of a potential drop is in casual water? I’ve always seen people doing something similar to what Ramsay appears to be doing, stepping on the turf to see if water comes up over their shoes. Is this not permitted?

Sorry, I meant video, not interview.

    John,

I can understand why the USGA may have wanted to improve the design of their Rules web pages but access to them is now considerably slower. Frustratingly so for those of us that refer to them often. An example of progress being a backward step.

    Mark,

I’ve only seen a very short clip of Ramsay. It looks to me like he is pressing down behind the ball to see if there is casual water. That is not allowed and he probably should have been penalized for doing that if it improved his lie or area of intended swing.

    Barry,
I agree that they are very slow. I’ve been going through my past posts today trying to update the links and it is quite frustrating. All posts on the blog have been updated backwards to January 30 or so. I’m going to work on the other pages before I go back to the blog.

John, related to Ramsay, how does the fact that it was lift clean and place change things? The ball was in his hand when he banged on the ground. So, he bangs on the ground, its not wet, he puts the ball near but not directly on top of a little “tee” that he just made. If he’s making a little elevated area to hit from, that’s one thing, but otherwise, the fact that the ball is in his hand seems to change things.
